Actor Nick Hoult Backs Launch Of New Ethical Condom Range
World Aids Day, 1st December 2008: Actor, Nick Hoult, famous for his roles in the E4 show Skins and the film About a Boy, today helps launch a brand new line of next generation ethical condoms - the first of its kind in the UK. Nick has joined forces with Global Ethics, the organisation behind the ethical water brand, One water, to launch the One condom range. All profits that Global Ethics make from the condom sales will go towards raising awareness of HIV and AIDS and the funding of testing in rural communities in Africa.
Whilst filming in Swaziland in 2005, Nick witnessed firsthand the impact that HIV and AIDS can have on a community and is the reason is why he has chosen to lend his support to this new ethical condom range.
Nick explained: “According to the United Nations, AIDS is still the biggest threat to Africa's development. I find it concerning that in 2008, 1,400 African children under the age of 15 die of an AIDS-related illnesses every single day and that currently more than 15 million children under 18 worldwide have been orphaned as a result of AIDS.”
The One condom range has not only been designed for maximum pleasure in the bedroom BUT all Global Ethics’ condom profits* go towards raising awareness of HIV and AIDS. This enables users to feel good in more ways than one; whilst they have fun and keep safe in the bedroom, they will be keeping Africa safe too.
Profits from the sale of the One condom range will fund charity partners such as The Donald Woods Foundation. Set up in 2003, The Donald Woods Foundation encourages people to get tested for HIV and AIDS and runs support programmes for those affected, including children orphaned by the diseases.
The One condom range is a fusion of leading manufacturing technology and cutting edge product design. All condoms come in distinct round foil wrappers and are packaged in a stylish silver tin for upmost discretion. There are 120 funky foil wrapper designs to choose from featuring ‘playful’ slogans e.g. ‘One for the early riser’.
Made with an advanced latex formulation called Sensasure (TM) the One condom is softer, smoother, clearer and purer, providing a safer and more pleasurable experience.
Nick concluded: “We are simply urging current users of condoms to make an educated purchase and choose ‘One’ over other brands, in the knowledge that they are helping to address the HIV and AIDS issue in Africa too.”
The product can be bought as a pack of three in a stylish reusable silver tin and will retail at around £3.29. The One range of condoms is now available at over 2,200 Co-operative Food stores throughout the UK, as well as Ethicalsuperstore.com and, to capture the student market, NUS shops. The Co-operative’s 790 pharmacy branches will also be stocking One condoms.
Nick Hoult urges the general public to help by:
- Buying the One range of condoms over other condom brands
- Urging local retailers to stock them
- Visiting the One website at www.onedifference.org to register and voice support
